Legal Question in Traffic Law in Florida

I never transferred my out of state license some 25yrs ago as I did not wish to drive ....last weekend my husband was violently sick, I drove to store to get meds for him. On the way home I was pulled over by sheriff. When I asked what I had done wrong officer stated that he was running tag and found that I was unlicensed. Officer stated why don't you have a licence clearly you are a good driver. So yesterday I was forced to get a florida license, appear in court next month. My question is can they randomly check vehicles like this without cause, I was not speeding, I was obeying the rules of the road..(yes behind the scene, I had no license,I do own that)

Unfortunately, they usually can stop you for that reason (unless, for example, the car is registered to a black male, and you were a white female). Not a bad idea to get an attorney as I have had clients in situations similar to yours, and can sometimes either get it dismissed or at least amended to a non-criminal infraction so that you avoid jail. In other words, I suggest you get an attorney right away.
