Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Florida

is this legal?

my father died a few weeks ago and left a will and a living trust. my brother and i are beneficiaries as is the trustee-split three ways equally. we have not been notified in writing about the trustee or the goings on with my father's estate. a meeting yesterday with an attorney handling the estate-not the trustee-found that the trustee had already cleared out part of the items-most of value- without informing or asking us. is this legal? we were then asked to sign a letter stating we agreed-which we did not sign-neither my brother or i trust this person as trustee. are we entitled to ask for an itemized list of my father's estate, bank records after his passing-i don't trust that they did not go and do some withdrawing from accounts after my father died- and can this same trustee sign as witness to a codicil that they directly benefit from? can a notary sign this same codicil as a witness and notary?
