Legal Question in Workers Comp in Florida

I live in Florida. My company sent me to work in Alabama, where I suffered an injury on the job that necessitated surgery. My company then filed a claim under Florida's Workers Comp., and it was denied. An acquaintance told me that my company should have file the claim under Alabama Workers Comp. since that is where I was injured. Is this true?

It is proper to file the claim in either Florida or Alabama. I suspect Florida might be better for you since you live in Florida. If Florida has denied the claim, see a Board Certified Workers' Compensation attorney. The Florida Bar maintains a list of Board Certified lawyers on their website www.flabar.org Good luck.
