how can I make a debt collector pay me for leaving a debt on my credit report longer than 7 years?

What happened when you disputed it to the credit bureau and showed them it should be removed? If there is an easy solution, it means there is no big check. Otherwise, there are many lawyers out there who will try to find a claim.

Possibly zero. To have a claim, you would usually first have to show the proper written request to remove it. In most cases, only if that is ignored would you have a claim. That you would discuss with a lawyer. Most such claims are small, but there are exceptions.
