As a Franchise Attorney I can only add the following. Typically legal disputes are resolved in court. Alternatives include (assuming both parties agree) mediation. In mediation, the mediator, who is usually an attorney, listens to both sides and tries to mediate an acceptable solution. Then there's arbitration, which can be binding or non-binding, where an arbitrator (who is also usually an attorney or retired judge) hears evidence from both sides than renders a decision.
