Sexual Harassment of a 16 year old

My 16 year old daughter has complained about being uncomfortable around a Church elder (50 year old male) that stares at her and tends to place himself whereever she is. Without a word he makes it clear that he is making advances torwards her and now he has taken it to another level. Last weekend she said the Church elder told her that she looked nice and she should ''put insurance on those breasts''. She is a minor. I am concerned that a man (any man) has the right to addrss a minor in such a way. He works in behalf of the church. He is a leader in the church and has authority over a lof of activities at the church. I have spoken to others in the church to get assistance but I dont want to wait until this gets to another level before I consider my options. I keep her away from him but he seems to always find a way around her. I believe this is sexual harassment and I want to press charges. Can you confirm if I have a case? I want to call the police and back him off of my daughter. Perhaps a restraining order?

A restraining order may work, but have you thought about making a complaint with the church?

My recommendation would be to write the Pastor and Board of Deacons about this matter is you have not already done so verbally. Give them a time deadline to respond and take action. Your next option depends on their action.

I suggest hiring an attorney. You do not have to sue right away but it would get the Church's attention. For a small fee I or any attorney that post here would be happy to help you with that. Good luck.
