Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

My divorce decree states that I owe the ex wife $1,000 per month alimony and payments should start June 1st 2016 and shall continue on the first day of each month thereafter for the following 7 months. I was told that I owe till the end of January 2017, which would be a total of 8 months. Does June payment not count? or does that mean I owe a total of 8 months?

Plain English is plain English. A payment plus the "following seven months" means eight months.
