Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

I am a father of a 5 yr old whos mother passed away a couple of weeks ago. I was never married to the mother nor was i legitimized however i am on the birth certificate and acknowledgement of paternity form. I have been in my daughters life as much as i could have been but with no custody papers I was only able to see my daughter whenever my childs mother felt like it. My childs mother resided with her step mother and father at the time of her death therefore that is where my daughter is. They wont let me get my daughter even after the mothers passing and so I am looking at legitimizing myself and filing for custody however I am told this can take months. My daughter needs to be with one of her parents and I am trying to get this done as quick as possible. Is there any way to have an emergency hearing or emergency custody paper I can file? I dont have much money for a lawyer and i just want my daughter.

To be direct - if it is important, get a part time job or a second job, sell something - to hire a lawyer. She is also posting here to ask for input on how to keep the child from you. Fumble around for weeks or months doing things wrong only delays a resolution.
