Your question indicates that you screwed up horribly in your original case, likely by making the catastrophic mistake of filing pro se rather than using a lawyer. In making that decision to risk your child over a few hundred dollars, you messed up.

In a publication divorce it would have been simple to have obtained legal and physical custody, assuming the child was with you. In that case, all you'd have to do now, either for free or $25, would be to file a child support case with the state.

At this point, meet with a lawyer and see what's the best thing to do given your apparent omission in the last case. You will likely spend a lot more and face more uncertainty than you would have if you had used an experienced lawyer the first time.
