Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

I was married in 1998. In 2000 I did a legal name change. My entire name was changed. In 2005 I received a divorce decree. The divorce decree has my new name on it instead of the name on my marriage certificate. My ex has since remarried. And I am planning to remarry soon. Does the wrong name on the divorce decree mean we are still legally married? I want to make sure we are not committing bigamy.

You're fine. Actually your divorce decree is correct as it showed your name as of when you got divorced. Assuming you used a lawyer, just to avoid confusion, he likely showed you as MARY JONES f/k/a MARY SMITH but even if he did not (or if you failed to use counsel as you should have), it's no big deal. If anyone has a question, and they may when you apply for your new license, simply show the name change and divorce order together.
