Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

how I can protect myself

Iam going through a difficult divorce Now I am presenting myself in this case. Few days ago I called to the judges office and talked with his assistant about the date for temporary hearing and my case. She made the date May 30 2006 ,gave me a time for the hearing and room number. Yesterday I called again to ask a couple additional questions .When she answered on the phone and I started to talk with her, she made a look that

she doesnt know me and dont remember our conversation five days ago.

It was not a truth.

After a one minute another assistant answering to me. She said I don t have any date on the calendar for my case. She didnt want to except any my offer about it. She told me that a trial can be without the hearing and I will have THE DATE OF TRIAL BY MAIL .She said this case was long enough to go to trial. It is not truth. This case was opened in August 2005. I told her It is not a fair and I am not ready yet.I had attorneys, they took my money but did not do much and I need a time to do discoveries, depositions and others. I have a feelings that when I will call again and ask for any help she can act like a first assistant.

I can not take an attorney now. What I can do to protect myself ? Thank you.

Re: how I can protect myself

You are dealing with something most non-lawyers find confusing and complex. You really need to consult with a local attorney.
