Legal Question in Immigration Law in Georgia

I am an American, my fiance is Australian. We have been together for 3 years and making the decision on getting married and how to best proceed. We will live in Australia so I'm not looking for information on him becoming a US citizen. I need advice about how to marry a foreigner and eventually live with him in Australia. He has children from a previous marriage so that makes our decision on which country to live in.

I have visited him in Australia for 3 months and this spring he will be here in America for 2 months. We are considering getting married while he is here but I don't know how that works and then how I get the Visa that would allow me to move there permanently. I've looked into fiance Visas for Australia but if we get married in America, what happens? If we need to wait and get married there, what are the steps involved? It's all a bit overwhelming!

Any help is greatly appreciated!

I practice U.S. Immigration & Nationality Law, so you would need to contact an attorney in Australia. I do not know if there are attorneys within this forum who practice law outside of the United States.

Good luck!
