Re: Workmans Comp

If your question is how do you purchase workers compensation insurance coverage, the answer is you should call your insurance agent. Workers compensation insurance coverage is purchased just like any other insurance coverage.

If your question is how do you obtain workers compensation money for an injury you have suffered on-the-job, the answer is that you do not receive workers compensation money unless you have previously purchased workers compensation insurance coverage (see above). If you have purchased workers compensation insurance coverage (and coverage is not mandatory for a company with only you as the employee/owner), you need to contact your insurance agent and report your injury and file a Form WC-1 with the State Board of Workers Compensation to report the injury to the Board. That should get the ball rolling.

This answer, though responsive to the question is general in nature. It is not designed to be and should not be relied on as your sole source of information when analyzing and resolving a specific legal issue. Each fact situation is different; the laws are constantly changing. If you have specific questions regarding a particular fact situation, I urge you to consult with competent legal counsel.
