Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Georgia

I am 74 years and a signed a contract online to have a house built in Sun City Peachtree in Griffin Ga. I changed my mind with in 10 days before the permits were even issued and now the builder (Pulte Builders) wants $22,710. The house was never started. I signed on 4-1-15. I gave them $5,000 in earnest money.

You own the house. Pay for it and enjoy it. When you sign a contract it is binding - not later but immediately. there is no 10 day grace period (unless there was one in the contract). You have no out unless the contract gives you one. Best case scenario here is that you flushed $5000 down the toilet. Worst case is they have a claim for the entire amount of the contract. Sit down with a lawyer and hire him to negotiate the smallest number you can.
