Legal Question in Traffic Law in Georgia

DUI/drugs

I was stopped at a road block and the officer smelled pot. I did a sobriety test on side of the road, and did everything that was asked perfectly. (I was not impaired) only to to be cuffed and charged with DUI/drugs. I went and submitted blood and urine test.

I am a first time offender. What will my outcome be if I don't hire lawyer? How do I prove I was not impaired? The video recorded from the officer's car? which I believe was full(not recorded).

Should I hire an attorney?

I was also charged with possesion under 1oz.

Re: DUI/drugs

The easy answer is, yes, you should hire an attorney. There are a lot of issues that you will be facing, and without an attorney they will probably be very confusing since you have never gone through the process before.

Now whether or not you were impaired, you can still get convicted of DUI/drugs if there were drugs in your system. So you'll have to find out the tests results. Also if there was marijuana if your car, that will count against you.

The video will help if you performed as well as you claim. That can be requested from the solicitor's office.

But at the end of the day, hiring an attorney experienced in DUI defense is the best course of action.
