Legal Question in Workers Comp in Georgia

Carpal Tunnel and then some

I have been working for a very big company for 14 years. I have been a a computer person for the last 8. About 4 years ago, I began getting really bad numbness in hands and arms. I went to the doc and he did an EMG and said i had severe carpal tunnel. I let work know and they bought me a new keyboard and chair, after waiting about a year. I am afraid to make this a worker's comp case, for fear that I will not be treated decently, as our company is beginning to cut back employees, etc., but i am now waking up with my fingers/hands so numb it scares me.

I was wondering what my rights are, and if i should get an attorney now to coach me through the ENTIRE process, to make sure I am covered. I am in my early 40's, so will depend on my typing for the rest of my life.

You have rights to medical treatment and disability benefits if your carpal tunnel was caused or aggravated by your work activities, as it appears. To learn more about your rights, go to www.atlantaworkerscompblog.com. click on "legal services," and then click on "carpal tunnel."
