Legal Question in Business Law in Illinois

electricity contracts

I'm thinking about signing a 5 year contract with an electricity provider. Their representative has told me that there is a state statute that would allow me to cancel with them at any time and that is why they don't specifically state my right to cancel in the contract. What statute would that be or where could I go to find the statute?

Re: electricity contracts

I am not sure what statute they are alluding to, but if you had a statutory right to cancel, that is usually the reason language regarding that right is in the contract to begin with. Do you have other options than to sign a 5 year contract?
