Legal Question in Technology Law in Illinois

defamation and libel via email to my corporate sponsors

an anonymous email which is libelous and defamatory was sent to at least one of my corporate sponsors. i have determined through the IP address that it is an individual. they are attacking both my person and my business. what legal rights do i have? what is the best possible case scenario for naming them in a suit? would i be eligible for damages? what kind of money are you talking about - i've seen numbers in the millions, with the median being 500K in some interenet research.

What did the libel say? Some forms can be carried without proof of damages, others need the proof.

What $$$$ damages do you have that you can show evidence for?

$500K? Average? Sounds like nonsense to me.
