Legal Question in Consumer Law in Illinois
Merchandise sent in error
If a company sends someone else's order to you by mistake, am I obligated by law to give up the merchandise? Can they legally charge me for the item?
It was sent via private carrier (UPS) as opposed to the U.S. postal service.

It is not your property. You need to either give it to the person to whom it is addressed, or return it to the carrier who made a simple mistake. But, I am guessing you already knew that.
