Legal Question in Consumer Law in Illinois

opening a website for bussiness

i would like to operate a on line bussiness geard to diabetics.

diabetic people are limited in sugar and salt foods. If there were a place where they could do their shopping without counting sugars and salts or let alone be able to get out to the store...

what legal issues will I encounter?

Please advise

Re: opening a website for bussiness

There are a number of issues to think about when starting a business or a website. A few are:

1) Incorporating - will you form an entity to run the business and limit your personal liability. You also need to think about how you will pay taxes related to the business.

2) Intellectual Property - website names can get you into trademark fights if, for example, you called your company "Nike Diabetes Products." In other words, be careful about the name you choose.

3) Licenses - as you are selling semi-medicinal products you want to be careful about getting any special licenses.

4) E-commerce - selling products online carries a host of legal hurdles you need to watch out for

5) Contracts - you will need to put together agreements with your suppliers and distributors, as well as with any advertisers or employees. Each of these documents carries a special set of legal issues.

If you are serious about starting a business, you should hire an attorney to help you sort through the various issues that will come up as you get going. You sound like you have a very good idea and I applaud you for giving it a go.
