Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Illinois

can a collector tell a spouse when they are not on there cards?

Can a collector tell the spouse about the collection and what it is about even though the spouse tells them that the other spouse moved out? They then went to tell me that Illinois is a 50 50 state. They went on to tell me that my

spouse owns this property, and that they talked to the city where we lived and that they looked it up on the internet. Now she said that she will give this to another department.

I took her name and number I would like to know my rights.

Thank you for any help you can give.

It is probably an invasion of privacy violation, however how do you prove damages, so no attorney would be interested in taking the case on a contingency fee, it would have to be hourly, and probably not worth it to you.
