Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois

I need your help In 2008 I was arrested for misdemeanor domestic battery after getting into a physical confrontation with my brother in IL he was 53 and I was 46 yes it was stupid I was offered a plea deal and was told by public defender that if I didnt take the deal that the state would charge me with a felony Let me tell you that I had never talked to her before that day after making several calls to her office before that day And felt that I had to take that deal that day Judge I took the deal I know now this was the worst thing I could have done. My PD never made it clear to me the severity of what I was about to do.She made it sound like this was was a minor charge and It would not affect my life Well thats not true I got laid off from my job in November of 2008 and because I am now tagged with a violent offence no one will hire me. IL. do's allow exspungment of violent offenses . Is there nothing I can do or am I just out of gas! You see judge I took a page from your book and returned to college and am majoring in Criminal Justice but want to work in social services and help our young adults. I spent 10 yrs of my life in juvenile corrections So if you have any suggestions please!

there is one option that may be available to you at this time and that is to do a certificate of good conduct. in the future, you could possibly seek expungment, but without know about all of your arrests, i do not know. to discuss futher, i can be reached at 312-372-5600.
