Legal Question in DUI Law in Illinois

My daughter who is almost 21 was sleeping at her 22 year old boyfriend's house. Unbeknownst to them, the house was robbed.

The police entered without permission, woke up my daughter & boyfriend, and because there was open liquor on the table, gave her a ticket for minor drinking. We went to court and paid $300 for the ticket and now they are suspending her license for 3 months. Is there anything we can do? She needs to drive to work. She has never had a ticket or been in any trouble.

Why didn't you (or your daughter) hire an attorney, or at least consult with one to get legal advice? Seriously, I can not understand why people plead guilty to criminal charges without even talking to an attorney. We might be able to get the Guilty plea set aside, but there are no guarantees and it will be expensive. An attorney could have defended the charge or at least avoided the conviction in the first place much easier and cheaper. I have handled many such cases and you may contact me directly to see if I might be able to help you for a reasonable fee.
