Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

A biological mother has left her 1 month old daughter in my care. The mother is addicted to drugs and says she never wants to see the child again. I want to keep the child, but I don't know how to go about this. What resources are out there to help me take care of child care, medical, and formula?

You should immediately seek guardianship on an emergency basis. In the event the child gets sick, as it stands right now, you may not be able to get care, otherwise. You can also contact DCFS to see if you could qualify as a foster parent and if so, you should be enittled to assistance. Good luck.
