Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

just got a divorce and have 4 kids. My husband left me when i was 5 moths pregnant. He gets the 3 kids every other weekend. My baby was only a week old when we went to court for the dissolution of marriage. He and i agreed that the newborn baby was too young to be taken, she is 1 month now. The child support took affect today and he called today angry and said that he would call the cops on me if i wouldn't hand the baby to him. He has repeatedly told me the baby isn't his concern and he wants nothing to do with her. I think he is just doing this to hurt me. I think he will hurt her, i don't want to hand her over.

what do you suggest?

Call a family law attorney in your area. Something this high stakes should not be dolled out on an online forum.

I agree with David. In the meantime, at least this weekend, do not hand over the child. Calling the cops with not do more than get you a lecture. The weather being what it is and the given the age of the child, the cops are not going to make you turn over the child. Come Monday, get on the phone to your lawyer or call another in the area and get back into court ASAP.
