Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

hi, My ex notified she was pregnant after we broke up. I signed a paper accepting I was the father but soon she told me to go away and didn't know let me see the baby. I offered help but all she said was the she didn't need my help and she wasn't going to let me see the baby. I had to moved to California from Illinois because of work After 4 years she contacted me again asking for money, I've doing my best to wire money to her every month for the past 2 years. My son is 6 now. Yesterday she was upset and told me everything I've sent her for the last 2 years is considered a gift to the court and that she will make me pay retroactive child support since the baby was born. I still haven't receive any court papers but she keeps asking for money and apparently she refuses to file child support for now. If I keep sending her money, can she make me pay for all these years even though I'm sending her about the 20% of my income?

Depending on what area of the state you are being sued in, judges in Cook County are hesitant to order pre-filing support, especially if she knew where you have been living, Are you would be entitled to credit for payments you can prove you made to her, not cash you gave her. . But you may have waived the right to contest parentage by signing the voluntary acknowledgement of paternity form.
