Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

I need to obtain the phone records from my phone from 2012 till present. I am told by att that I need an attorney to do this. Is this true? How do I go about? And how much would something like this cost? Thank you

If you just want them and there is no case pending where you need them, I have no idea why you would need an atty. If there is a case pending and you need the records for that case, you should obtain a subpoena for records form that you must fill out, have the clerk of the court issue the subpoena, it must be served on the registered against for the phone company in question and you have to give notice of that subpoena to the other side. It might be easier if you had an atty, but the law does not require it.
