My relationship with my oldest child is causing my extreme emotional distress. How can I free myself of any obligations set forth in the divorce agreement until age 23.

Your relationship with your child is not legally relevant to your support obligation to provide you with a basis to terminate your support obligation If that were the case, payors of child support would never have to pay support, as they might intentionally destroy their relationships with their children. Only if you can prove that your former spouse intentionally destroyed your relationship with the child might, and i say might, the court listen to your request, but it is very hard to prove. The only way to free yourself is for your former spouse to remarry and have new spouse adopt the child.
