Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Relinquishment of child by father

My 2 1/2 yr. old son's father is court ordered to pay support but he (father) will not have anything to do with him. My new husband would like to adopt my son. I know we need a lawyer but we can't afford to hire lawyers. We have searched the internet for a form to relinquish the father's rights but we're unable to find one. Is there such a form and how do we go about this?

Re: Relinquishment of child by father

Voluntary relinquishment of parental rights is provided for by Illinois law. There is a form available to start the process. I suggest you contact the County Clerk's office of the county in which the child resides.
