Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Unmarried, separated couple reside in Illinois. Father has had child residing with him since birth as mother has legal issues and no desire to see child. There has never been a legal agreement in place. The Father wishes to move out of state for better job and schooling for child. if the mother agrees can he move with child, or does it have to go thru the court? Is there paperwork that can be signed and submitted without having to go thru lengthy court process?

The best thing for you to do, to protect yourself from any future problems, is to file a court action and get a court order for custody.
