Will committing myself in a psych ward because of what my ex is doing to me effect an upcoming child custody case. He has full custody

Of course it will. A court will be extremely hesitant to consider you a proper custodial parent if you have a recent hospitalization. It would be a legitimate source of inquiry as to your fitness and ability to parent the child(ren)
