Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Illinois

Manufacturers

Say I buy a Hanes or Fruit of the Loom T-shirt. I then do some of my own art work on them and sell them by the avenue of a company I started. Can I get sued by Hanes or Fruit of the Loom?

Re: Manufacturers

Sued for what? Are you printing their logos on the t-shirts? The t-shirts have been placed in the stream of commerce -- you can do whatever you like with them once you purchase them, so long as what you're doing doesn't wrongfully use their intellectual property, which would be their logos, their slogans, etc. They don't have any intellectual property rights in the t-shirt themselves, so you can do what you like with them.
