What actions can be taken against an employer if you have not received a pay check? The checks are a week late and the employer is an attorney.

The Illinois Dept. of Labor provies a mechanism whereby you can file a complaint for unpaid wages. If the wages are paid soon, I highly doubt IDOL would get involved. The law does require an employer to post paydays and adhere to them. You might write a letter to your attoirney employer reminding him of this.
