Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in Illinois

I have a question, my 65 yr. old deaf mute aunt was hospitalized due to a right knee replacement, while in the hospital after the surgury I was informed that she was not doing good. Her kidneys were failing and she had stones and one was traveling thru her pancreas. I was also informed that she had gangrene in her stomach and needed an emergency surgury to have her gall bladder removed. Well they went in to do this procedure and when it was completed I was informed that she did not have a gall bladder...... they did the ct scan the previous day, they should have known there was no gallbladder. There are quite a few more issues, but I was wondering if I can be advised based on what I have just explained, would it be beneficial to try to pursue a law suit in regard to this issue?????????

Based on the facts presented it does sound as if the standard of care that every patient is entitled to was not provided to your aunt. However, malpractice cases are almsot alayws defended very strongly and are quite expenseive to pursue. Most attorneys who practice in this are of the law only accept cases that have very significant damages, usually life altering. I cannot tell from your submission whether your aunt suffered any life altering injury from the care that she received.
