Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois
I bought a home with my VA, and put my girlfriend on the title (she is not on the loan). I know broke up with her and want to sell the house. She refuses to leave and said she would refuse to sign if I find a buyer. Any help on this??

It is her house as much as yours since you generously added her to the title. If you want her out, you can offer to buy out her interest, convince her to sell and share the proceeds with her (because she co-owns it with you) or do a partition action.

I agree with Attorney Dockery's answer. I would add that both sides stand to lose a lot in forcing this into a court partition case. The home will be ordered sold since it is not dividable. So, the result is inevitable and the other options suggested by Attorney Dockery should work best for both parties to limit costs and maximize the gain.
