Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois

Sub-leasing and Breaking a lease

I rented an apartment in Sept of 2001. My lease was until June 2001, I extended it to Jan. of 2002. During that time I ended up getting married and therefore wanting to move in with my husband. I wanted to break my lease on July 2001. I called my landlord and told him/her I was wanting to break my lease but I had an individual who would like to take it over, it was my cousin. He/She said ok, and that I would have to sign a sub-lease. Well, I didn't want to, but ended up signing a sub-lease for the remainder of my 2nd lease, which was until Jan. of 2002. The landlord meet with my cousin and me and stated I would get my full deposit back when my sub-lease was up. I have recently thought about the whole situation and realized, do I actullay get my money any time now, cause my cousin signed a new lease with the landlord starting July of 2001 for a year. So my question is, since my cousin signed a new lease directly with the landlord, is my sub-lease even valid anymore, meaning I can ask for my deposit now?

Thanks.
