Deceased spouse creditors

Can the spouse of a deceased husband, be made to pay off the balance of credit cards that were only in the husband's name. The deceased left no will.

The general rule in Illinois is that each spouse is responsible for the debts of the other. Please seek the advice of an attorney in your area.
