Estate question

If I have an ajudicated child whom I never had a relationship with, and I do not put him in my will, can he contest my will after my death and take my estate?

Re: Estate question

If he is legally your child (an heir) then he *can* contest your will, but that doesn't mean he would be successful. He would need to have a legitimate basis aside from not liking the terms. I would recommend that you have your Will prepared professionally and be sure that your potential executors will be able to locate your original Will when the time comes.

Re: Estate question

Not in Illinois. But the safe course is still to acknowledge his existence in your will and trust and affirmatively state that you have made no provision for him.
