Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Illinois

My father passed a week ago. He was the middle child, his brother is deceased who was older and his younger sister is still alive. My aunt asked for a copy of my fathers death certificate within a few days of his death! My siblings and I think she is up to something! if we give her a copy can we see or find out how she used it! Or can we block her from using it if she has an inheritance of some kind from my deceased grandparents that she will now take possession of since my father and uncle are deceased....

She is very likely up to something. The main reason to get a death certificate is to prove that someone is dead in order to show that someone else is entitled to property. There is no central repository which keeps track as to how death certificates are used. You might only block her from using it if you find out which financial institution she intends to submit it to. I recommend that you take all steps to search your father's records for all possible assets and then contact an attorney about how to take next steps.
