Legal Question in Workers Comp in Illinois

How should I pursue a settlement from worker's compensation, I fractured my right wrist at work and I am right-handed. I went back to work after a couple days and have been on light duty for over 5 weeks now. I've been told that worker's compensation case managers will offer a settlement after I have been released from the doctor and all bills have been paid. Please advise. Thank you
