Neither. You have ab absolute right to spend as much time as you wish with your doctor WITHOUT the nurse case manager present. Illinois law prohibits insurance companies or their agents from talking to your doctors unless you are present. So, AFTER you and your doctor are finished, the nurse can come in the room and ask questions of your doctor, in front of you. This way you know exactly what she asked AND how the doctor answered. Done properly, the process does NOT violate your privacy and actually protects you. Your attorney should have explained this.

If your injury is significant enough for the insurance company to assign a nurse, you are making a BIG mistake if you do not have an attorney. In Illinois, an experienced attorney can increase the value of your claim far beyond the amount of his fee. Consult an experienced Workers' Compensation attorney ASAP.
