Legal Question in Banking Law in India

How much & what bases one can charge Penalty of Cheque bouncing.

we issued a cheque of 7000 to some ltd. company but due to some unavoidable circumstances he could not honour the cheque, but paid him immediately full amount by cash upon knowing about the same & setteled their payment. But in addition to the same the Ltd. Company has issued a bill of Rs.4500/- towards penalty on cheque bouncing charges.

Is this justified ?

Can we file a case in consumer court for the same ?

Please advise.

Dear Sir / Madam,

The penalty for cheque bouncing charges levied by the bank is less than Rs. 500/- You may offer to pay off the charges levied by the bank to the person to whom you issued the cheque and close the matter.
