Rule of self attestation of document

Is there any rule to attest documets by self which are -

xerox of original

Charecter certificate.

Family Income.

Why we go to any gazzett officer to attest the same.

Please mention whether i my self can attest the document.

No you cannot attest your own document(Xerox)even if you are authorised to attest document eg you are a gazzetted officer yourself.

The requirement of attestation depends upon the place where the documents are to be submitted. There are several places where self-attested documents are acceptable. However, a government or semi-government institution may not accept self-attestation. One cannot insist upon submission of self-attested documents.
