Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Indiana

I had a judgment issued against me in 1998. Wages were garnished as part of the process, and I thought the whole thing had been paid off. I get a letter in the mail last month asking me to appear in court for what is pretty close to the original judgment, claiming that it hadn't been settled. The current amount reflects 16 years of interest factored in. I live in Indiana. What rights to I have to fight this, and what rights does the debt-collector have to come after me 16 years after my last payment was made?

That depends on whether or not they renewed the judgment, which expires in 10 years. You need the assistance of a lawyer. You can't resolve this by yourself.
