Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

~child custody issue~

I have a 12 yr old girl and 10 yr old boy that despreatly want to live with me due to the way their step mom treats them and their dad wont do anything about it...EX: If they get into trouble or make the step mom mad before dinner they go to bed with NO dinner, they also getting showers taken away from them. I get my kids every other weekend, i had them last week and ask my daughter when the last time she took a shower becuase she smelled bad, she told me it was the previous sunday becuase she got into trouble the week before and there were a couple nights she did not get dinner..Sorry but to me that is child abuse/neglect. I was married to their father for 6 yrs and never once would i have thought he would ever be like this. What can I do so my kids do not do something stupid becuase that is what it is coming down to, at least for my 12 yr old girl. PLEASE HELP ME HELP THEM

File for a modification of custody with the court. If you feel you need more assistance, request that the court appoint a guardian ad litem. Which is basically someone to represent the children's interest only. You could also call child protective services and explain what has been going on.

You should contact Child and Family Services asap. if not bathing on a regular basis. This is a matter of health if the kids are not bathing and not being fed on a regular basis. You should also hire an attorney to present a Peition to Modify Custody. Good luck
