Legal Question in Insurance Law in Indiana

i was in an accident two months ago the other driver was at fault he rented a vehicle from hertz, hertz is self insured i was told by the person handling the claim that my vehicle is deemed a total lost. to my understanding if a vehicle is deemed a total lost that the paying party would have to buy out the damaged vehicle. i was given a very unreasonable paying dollar amount that leaves me with two options keeping the car and still having a high car payment or leaving me with no vehicle. at this point i'm very unsure what to do i don't want to be left without a vehicle

You are only entitled to be compensated for the reasonable market value of your vehicle. Often, people owe more on their car than the value of the car. If you can find someone who can testify as to a higher value for your car, then you can challenge what you feel is an unreasonable offer.
