Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Indiana

Use of pictures of restaurants in a book

I want to write my own book where I just describe the decor of restaurants. Do I have to get a release from the place to use the pic even if I do not call it by name in the book?

I think not. If food critics can do it, even with negative reviews, there appears to be no reason you can't describe the decor. You might find that the resterateurs are flattered and wish to cooperate. There is no proprietary right in the decor.
