If the accounts have designated pay-on-death beneficiaries, the accounts can be paid out immediately upon presentation of death certificate. But if the accounts are subject to estate probate proceedings, the estate debts, costs, taxes and other requirements must be satisfied first, before any monies can be distributed. Average time, from date of death, should be 3-4 months unless there are exigent circumstances.
