Legal Question in Criminal Law in Iowa

Iowa courts: when the term "on or about" is used, how many days before and after can it include? There is much controversy regarding this, including that the crime must have happen of the day used. for example, on or about January 16th must have happened on the 16th of January.

The date doesn't matter too much and the Court will usually allow the County Attorney to amend the date during a trial, and can even allow a wide range of dates, as long as it doesn't unfairly surprise or prejudice the defendant during the trial. The issue is going to be rather case specific however.
