Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa

Ok i have two little girls that live with me and have since febuary of this year today their dad decided that he wants them back but mom and dad dont have a coustdy agreement and she signed a paper saying she gave me gardianship of them and he hasnt seen them more then 5 time since i have had them and there mom just moved away can he just take them from my home

You have no rights here if you're not a parent. I wouldn't try and stand on that scrap of paper.
